A documentary film about the life of Bill Jay will premier in Scotland in late Sept/early October. The final date is yet to be finalised but watch this space for updates. The film will be screened at Napier University, Craiglockhart Campus in the Lindsay Stewart theatre and hosted by their Chancellor, photographer David Eustace.
Bill Jay (12 August 1940 – 10 May 2009) was a prolific writer, an advocate of photography, curator, and editor of Creative Camera magazine. He is an author of more than 20 books on photography, four books of his own work and over 400 essays, lectures and articles. His own work has been widely published, including a solo exhibition at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
Grant Scott is a producer, director, researcher and editor and has been the driving force behind making this film along with an expert team of creatives and filmmakers.
The evening will start with a drinks reception before the film and finish with a panel discussion comprising of Scotland’s most respected figures in the medium. This will include Grant Scott, Ben Harman, Director of Stills Gallery, Malcolm Dickson, Director of Street Level Photoworks and photographic artist Robin Gillanders.
